Together with many other organisations and sectors, HMCTS has faced the considerable challenge during the pandemic of keeping trials and sentencing on track whilst protecting the health and safety of all involved. 

CatonLloyd was delighted to be appointed by our audio visual contractor partner to implement the rollout of video conferencing technologies for courts and prisons across the North of England and in wider regions including the Midlands and the North East, allowing all parties to connect visually and facilitating the progression of trials and sentencing procedures in England and Wales.

This major government contract is important to our team, enabling us to not only enhance HMCTS' operations with innovative technologies but to support the essential functions of communities UK-wide. Trials, sentencing and other hearings will take place via videolink, connecting directly to prisons to avoid the need for movement of people and increasing the speed and efficiency with which proceedings can take place.

The newly installed video conferencing technologies will be a permanent fixture for HMCTS, potentially paving the way for lasting future changes in the way criminal and other proceedings are heard in England and Wales.
